Questions
Q1When does registration become compulsory?
Broadly when aggregate turnover crosses ₹40 lakh for goods or ₹20 lakh for services, lower in special category states. It is compulsory regardless of turnover for interstate supply, e-commerce operators and certain other categories. We confirm your position in writing before filing.
Q2Should I register voluntarily?
It depends who you sell to. If your customers are registered businesses claiming input credit, registering usually wins work. If you sell to consumers, it adds tax to your price and a monthly filing obligation.
Q3Do I need a registration in each state?
Yes. GST is state-wise. A place of business in more than one state means a registration in each.
Q4What is the composition scheme?
A simplified option for smaller businesses — tax at a flat rate on turnover with quarterly filing, but no input tax credit and no GST collected from customers. Whether it helps depends entirely on your input costs.
